dc.description.abstract Curriculum changes made by the government have a purpose to improve the education system. In the 2013 curriculum, the competency to be achieved by students is aspects of cognitive, psychomotor and affective. The implementation of the 2013 is still in the experimental stage. The objectives of this research are to know the implementation of the 2013 curriculum and to describe the application of the scientific approach as the procedure of teaching English at first grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Petanahan. This research is classroom observation research. The research is conducted to obtain information related to the implementation of the 2013 curriculum in teaching English at first grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Petanahan with the focus on teaching-learning process. The writer took the X MS 3 class of the first grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Petanahan as the sample. The writer observed and recorded the information of the teaching learning process of the first grade students and the English teacher. The writer used digital camera to observe learning process. The writer made the transcription of teaching learning process. The writer also made the categorization by checklist of the analysis of learning process. Then the writer made evaluation of teaching learning performance and described the procedures of teaching through the scientific approach of the 2013 curriculum in teaching English. The writer described the implementation of the 2013 curriculum in teaching English at the first grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Petanahan was good. The conclusion for this research is that the implementation of the 2013 curriculum and the application of the scientific approach of the 2013 curriculum in teaching-learning process at the first grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Petanahan runs well. It means that the English language teaching using the 2013 curriculum is successfully implemented in that class. en_US
