The objective of this research is to describe whether using Silent Card
Shuffle Strategy is effective or not for teaching reading narrative text for students
at the Eighth Grade of SMP N 1 Kepil in the Academic Year of 2015/2016.
This research is quantitative research with an pre-experimental method
with one group pre-test and post-test. In this research the subject of research is the
students Eighth Grade of SMP N 1 Kepil in the Academic Year of 2015/2016.
The researcher took 32 students (VIII A) of one class as sample from 160 students
as population. Then researcher gave pre-test and post-test to the samples. The
instrument use in this thesis is reading test. The researcher used pre-test and posttest
in getting the data. Before conducting post-test, the researcher used Silent
Card Shuffle Strategy (SCSS) to teach reading narrative text. The researcher
analyzed the data by using t-test.
The result of this research shows that the mean score of pre-test and posttest
is 55.88 and 85.63. The result of t-value is 13.954, based on the 0.05
significance level, the value of t-table is 2.039, the computation shows that t-value
is higher than t-table, which is 13.954>2.039. Moreover, Silent Card Shuffle
Strategy is effective for teaching reading narrative text. It can be seen from gained
mean score pre-test and post-test. Mean score of post-test is higher than mean
score of pre-test. So, it can be concluded that the use of Silent Card Shuffle
Strategy is effective for teaching reading narrative text at the Eighth Grade of
SMP N 1 Kepil in the Academic Year of 2015/2016. |
