dc.description.abstract In this research, the researcher would like to know whether there is correlation between students’ phonetic transcription mastery and their pronunciation ability of the second semester of English Education Program in the Academic Year of 2015/2016 or not. The research design of this study is using quantitative approach while the design of this research is correlation design. The population of this research is the student’s of second semester of English Education Program in Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo in the Academic Year of 2015/2016. The total number is 100 students. The sample that is taken is B class with 50 students by used purposive sampling technique. The result of this research shows that the correlation between the students’ phonetic transcription mastery and their pronunciation ability of the second semester of English Education Program in Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo in the Academic Year of 2015/2016 is medium. It is proven from the result of correlation coefficient product moment shows that observed r (0.408), it is included in the table interpretation between 0.400 - 0.599 in the level of medium correlation. Then, the hypothesis which states there is a positive and significant correlation between the students’ phonetic transcription mastery and their pronunciation ability of the second semester of English Education Program in the Academic Year of 2015/2016 is accepted in the level of medium interpretation. en_US
