English as an international language is really needed by many
learners to deliver thought and interact in a variety of situation. People
realize that teaching English at this level becomes very important and
needs much concern. This Study was conducted under the consideration
that eleventh year students of SMA N 6 Purworejo need method to
teaching- learning process. One, method in teaching reading was using
TSTS. In this thesis, the objective of this study was to find out whether
there was any effectiveness of using Two Stay and Two Stray (TSTS) for
teaching narrative text for improving Reading Comprehension in the
Eleventh Grade Students of SMA N 6 Purworejo in the academic year of
2012/2013.
The type of this research is quantitative and experimental. The
design of this research was a Qoasi experiment design with pre-test and
pos- test procedure. The total population is 192 student of the Eleventh
Grade of SMA N 6 Purworejo. This research applies a purposive sampling
method to get samples. The total samples were 72 students. The samples
divided in to two groups; the experimental groups are 36 and the control
groups were 36. Then, the data was analyzed using t-test method to find
out whether there was any effectiveness of using Two Stay and Two Stray
(TSTS) for teaching narrative text for improving Reading Comprehension
in the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA N 6 Purworejo in the academic
year of 2012/2013. The researcher used the writing test; the type of the test
is multiple choices consist of 25 items.
The computation result of t-test was 4.36 the critical value of t was
1.99 for a = 5% and df = 70.Because t value was higher than the critical
value of t (4.36>1.99), Ho was refused and Ha or H alternative was
accepted. Thus, that ,hypothesis stated that “ there was effectiveness of
using Two Stay and Two Stray (TSTS) for teaching narrative text for
improving Reading Comprehension in the Eleventh Grade Students of
SMA N 6 Purworejo in the academic year of 2012/2013 was accepted. The
researcher hopes this thesis will enrich the knowledge and experience for
the readers especially in teaching reading. Hopefully, it will teach us to be
wiser in learning English. |
