Teaching language, in this case English is not an easy thing since the
teaching of every aspect is related one to other. The students who want to learn a
foreign language, sometime they will meet with all kind of learning problems. As
a matter of fact, many students of junior high school consider that English is very
difficult subject to learn. Teacher can use method in teaching English to convey
the lesson. Cooperative script is one of method that could be used for teaching
narrative script.
The objective of this research is to find out the effectiveness of using
Cooperative Script method for teaching narrative text on the eight grade students
of SMP N 23 Purworejo. In this research the researcher took two classes as the
sample. The writer use experimental research. One class was experimental group
(31 students) and the other was control group (31 students) So, the number of
sample were 62 students. While, the instrument used in this thesis, was reading
test. To collecting the data, the researcher used pre-test and post-test. Before
conducting post-test, the researcher gave treatment for experimental group using
Cooperative Script. After getting enough data, the researcher calculated the data
using t-test polled and variance.
Based on the computation, the mean score of experimental group was
77.41 and the mean of control group was 65.96. The t-value was consulted to the
t-table at the 0.05 significance level. It showed that the t-table is 2.00 and the tvalue
was 6.77 it means that t-value was higher than t-table so, it can be
concluded that the use of using Cooperative Script for teaching narrative text at
the eight grade students of SMP N 23 Purworejo on the academic year 2012/2013
is effective. |
