Language, so far as we know, is something specific to humans, that is
to say it is the basic capacity that distinguishes humans from all other living
beings. When we think about English, there are some skills, they are
listening, speaking, reading, and writing readily come to mind. Of course
other skills such as pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, and spelling all
play a role in effective English communication. Reading is one skill which
is important in language teaching learning process. In fact, the requirements
of effective teaching reading are not adequately met. The results, the
students are low in reading skill. They like something new and fun. One of
the alternative media is using movie maker media. The students get new
experience in learning reading. As a result, they can learn reading more
easily and interestingly.
The aim of this research is to describe whether movie maker media to
develop the students’ reading comprehension in short functional text is
effective or not at the second grade students of MA An Nawawi 02 Salaman
in the academic year of 2012/2013. The type of this research is preexperimental
research. The researcher took the second grade students of MA
An Nawawi 02 Salaman in the academic year of 2012/2013 as the
population of this research. The researcher uses saturated sampling. Here,
the researcher takes one class as the sample to be analyzed, and the number
of sample is 38 students. The researcher used movie maker media to teach
reading. Satistically, the researcher analyzed the data by using t-test.
The result of this research shows that movie maker media is effective to
teaching reading at the eleven grade in MA An Nawawi 02 Salaman in the
academic of year 2012/2013. It was found that the result of t-value was
6.14. Based on the 0.05 significance level, the value of t-table was 2.026,
the computation showed that t-value was higher than t-table, which was
6.14>2.026. Moreover, movie maker was effective to teaching reading. It
can be seen from gained score pre-test and post-test which was given the
treatment. The post-test was higher than pre-test. Based on the result
findings, it can be shown that the students will not be bored in learning
English and they will understand the context of the text in reading easier. |
