Abstract:
find out whether or not written advertisements is improve students
vocabulary mastery at the tenth grade students of SMK YPE Sampang in
academic year 2013/2014. The researcher took two class as experimental group
and as control group.
The study was conducted at the tenth grade students of SMK YPE
Sampang. The research was held from may 2nd to 23th, 2014. It consisted of 72
students which divided into two classes. To get the data, the researcher used test
as instrument (pretest and post test). The test were multiple choice types
(consisting of 5 items), completion (5 items) and matching (consisting of 10
items). To analyze the data, the researcher used t-test. The sampling technique
which is used in this research is simple purpose sampling.The type of this research
is experimental research. In this research there are two kind of variable.
Independent variable which is symbolized by X (written advertisement) and
dependent variable which is symbolized by Y (vocabulary mastery).
After collecting the data and analyzing them, the researcher presents the
result of the research. The level of vocabulary mastery improves. It can be proved
by the result of the mean score of post test (71.389 belong to good category) is
higher than pre-test in(53.333 belong to fairy sufficient category), in experimental
group. In addition, the result of t-value is 3.825. Then, the researcher consults the
critical value on the t-table using 5% (0.05) alpha level significance and the
degree of freedom is 1.994. It shows that t-value is higher than t- table
(3.825>1.994). It means that written advertisements to improve vocabulary
mastery at the tenth grade students of SMK YPE Sampang is effective.
