Abstract:
The objective of this research is to find out whether REAP method is
effective or not on students’ reading comprehension of the second grade students.
In this research, the researcher took 63 students as the sample . Then, the
researcher gave pre-test and post-test. The researcher taught reading by using
REAP method to the experimental class. The researcher then statistically analyzed
the data by using t-test separated variance.
After analyzing the data, the researcher concluded that teaching reading by
using REAP is effective in increasing students’ reading comprehension. As the
fact, the result of t-value is 6.672. Based on the 5% significant level, the value of
t-table is 2.000. The result of computation shows that t-value is higher than ttable,
that is 6.672>2.000. Another fact shows that the strategy used is effective. It
is shown by the mean of post-test that is higher than the mean of pre-test. In the
post-test, the mean is 74.19On the contrary, the mean of pre-test is 65.44.Based on
the result finding, the researcher concluded that the use of REAP on reading
comprehension ability of second grade students of SMA N 11 Purworejo in as a
teaching strategy is effective on the reading comprehension ability at second
grade students of SMA N 11 Purworejo”.
