Therefore, the method used by teacher must be appropriate for them. By using
Storytelling through pictures help the students in speaking from explanation given

not feel bored.
The purpose of this research is to find out Storytelling by Pictures is effective
or not for teaching explanation text at eleventh grade Students of SMK N 3
Purworejo. In this research the researcher took 60 students as the sample. As the
experimental group, the researcher used class Kecantikan Kulit which consists of
31 students. Meanwhile, as the control group, the researcher took 29 students of
class Kecantikan Rambut. Then, the researcher gave pre-test and post-test to both
classes. The researcher taught explanation text by Storytelling by Pictures to
experimental group and common way to the control group. The writer then
statistically analyzed the data by using t-test polled variance.
After analyzing the data, the researcher concludes that storytelling through
pictures in teaching speaking is effective. As the fact, the result of t-table is 2.000
based on the 0.05 significant level, the value of t-test is 6.648. The result of
computation shows that t-value is higher than t-table, that is 6.648>2.000. So, it
can be stated that the hypothesis “The Effectiveness of Storytelling Through
