Abstract:
The of students aim of this research was to improve motivation and
achievement in studying mathematics. The type of this research was action
research, consists of two cycles. The techniques of collecting data were
observations, questionnaires, and tests. The researcher used motivation
observation sheets, and motivation questionnaire towards study mathematics at
study by mathematics cartoons media, and test sheet of 5 questions. The material
is about comparison. The techniques of data analysis was percentages, and
averages descriptive.
The of student results of this research show and the motivation and
achievement class VII B MTs Ma’arif Sapuran was increased after being taught
using mathematics cartoon media. It showed by the increasing of the average
percentage of student’s motivation from 66.81% in the pre-cycle, 69.49% in the
first cycle, and 73.31% in the second cycle. Whereas, for student achievement, the
mean value increased from 68.35 in the pre-cycle, 73,29 in the first cycle, to 82.64
in the second cycle.
