dc.description.abstract Language is the basic skill that is needed for real communication among people. We know that there are four language skills which are involved in communication through language, namely speaking, reading, writing, and listening. It is supported by some components of language and one of them is pronunciation. Pronunciation becomes an important factor in English, especially in developing English speaking ability. Surely we cannot underestimate the role of pronunciation. So the writer chooses audio visual media to help students to learn English pronunciation easily and enjoying it. The objectives of this research are basically to find out the answer of the problem statements. Considering the problem statement, the objective of the study is: To know whether teaching using audio visual media effective or not to develop their pronunciation mastery on the MA PK PADURESO in the academic years 2013/2014. The design of the study was experimental quantitative research using pre-test treatment and post-test. The time of the study was on 22nd, 28th may and 30th April 2014 and the place of study in MA Padureso. The population of the study was the tenth grade students of MA Padureso in academic of 2013/2014. The number of the population was 160 students divided into five classes, each class was 30 students. He took two classes (60 students), A class as experimental class B and A class as control group. The researcher uses purposive sampling as a way to take the sample. The data analysis technique includes descriptive and inferential analysis. The formula of t-test was applied to prove the hypothesis. The result of test showed that the mean score of post-test for experimental group is 76.43. Meanwhile, the mean score of post-test for control group is 67.17. The hypothesis “The Effectiveness of Using Audio Visual Media to Develop Pronunciation of the Tenth Grade Students of MA Padureso in Academic Year 2013/2014 is effective”, is accepted. It is shown by t-test is higher than t-table (4.278 > 2.0017). Based on the research finding, the researcher is able to conclude that there is effectiveness of using audio visual media to develop pronunciation of the tenth grade students of MA Padureso. The teacher should be more active in creating teaching learning process in order to make the students more active and interesting in studying English. en_US
