Abstract:
The use of outdoor activities in teaching vocabulary on the seventh grade
students of SMPN 2 Ambal, Kebumen in academic year of 2013/2014 is effective.
It can be seen from the mean score of experimental group is higher than the mean
score of control group. The mean of experimental group is 74.69. Meanwhile, the
mean of control group is 66.32. In addition, the result of t-value is 3.461.
Based on the critical value on the t-table using the 5% (0.05) alpha level
significance and the degree of freedom is 55. It shows that the t-value is higher than
t-table (3.70>1.98). It means that the method used by the researcher is effective to
improve students‟ vocabulary mastery at seventh grade students of SMPN 2 Ambal,
Kebumen. Therefore, the researcher‟s hypothesis with 0.95 or 95% of significance
level is accepted and consequently null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected.
In addition, teaching vocabulary by using Outdoor Activities has some
advantages. Since the students involve actively in the class, teaching learning
process run well.
