Abstract:
Students’ learning motivation in each learning activity is important to
improve students’ learning achievement in a particular subject. students’ learning
motivation can become weak. The lack of learning motivation will frustrate the
activities, so the quality of learning achievement is low. Thus, students’ learning
motivation needs to be strengthened continuously. It is expected that students
have a strong motivation to learn, so their learning achievement can be optimal.
The objectives of the study in this research are:
1) To find out whether there is any influence of learning motivation on student’s
learning achievement of fifth semester of English Education Department in
Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo in the academic year 2013/2014.
2) To determine whether the influence of learning motivation on student’s
learning achievement of fifth semester of English Education Department in
Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo in the academic year 2013/2014.
The respondents were the fifth semester of English Education Department
of Teacher Training and Educational Sciences Faculty of Muhammadiyah
University of Purworejo in The Academic Year 2013/2014. The total of
respondents were 50 students by applying purposive sampling. The data of
students’ learning motivation was obtained using questionnaire, and the data of
the score of students’ achievement was obtained using documentation. The
validity and reliability of the questionnaire were calculated using SPSS statistic
version 17.0. Moreover, the correlation analysis between score of students’
learning motivation and score of students’ learning achievement were also using
SPSS statistic version 17.0.
The main result of this research is that there is a significant influence of
learning motivation on learning achievement. If the value of the variable of
Motivation (X) is high, the value of the variable of Achievement (Y) will also be
high. And the motivation influences to the learning achievement in this research is
28.5% or can be inferred that the learning achievement is influenced by learning
motivation about 28.5% while the 71.5% is influenced by other factors such as
physical health, intelligence, interest, talent, maturity, readiness, and so on.
