Abstract:
The objectives of this study are to find out the kind of words, phrases,
clauses, and sentences in “The Brave One” movie are used by men and are used
by women. And also to find out the kind of syntactical structure differences in
“The Brave One” movie are used by men and women.
This research uses the qualitative research because there is no numerical
data in his research and then is no statistical procedure. The research object of this
study is Men’s and Women’s Language on “The Brave One” Movie. The writer
uses the script of the “The Brave One” Movie as the primary data source of the
research. The writer uses document technique to collect the data. In this study the
researcher uses the following techniques to analyze the data these are reading the
movie script, classifying the men and women characters of the movie, classifying
the linguistics features used by men and women, identifying the linguistics feature
used by men and women, and finding out the differences of language used by men
and women in “The Brave One” movie script and the last technique is drawing the
conclusion.
The result of this analysis showed that the kind of words used by men is
impolite words that found in form of noun. The kind of phrase used by men is non
standard noun phrase, prepositional phrase and non standard form of verb phrase.
The kind of clauses used by men is non standard noun clause and adjective clause.
The kinds of sentences are in the form of declarative and imperative sentence. The
writer also found that women usually used standard and polite form of language.
In this study noun and adjective are the kinds of words used by women. The kind
of phrases used by women is the noun phrase. The kinds of clauses used by men
are noun clause and adverbial clause. The kinds of sentences are in the form of
declarative, interrogative, and exclamation sentence. Based on the result in this
study, the syntactical differences between men and women can be seen on the
politeness form, tag question, imperative, and exclamation.
