dc.description.abstract |
Teaching and learning occur through social interaction between teachers
and students. As teaching and learning take place, they are complicated processes.
Teacher-student relationships provide an essential foundation for effective
classroom management and classroom management is a key to high student
achievement. The purpose of this research are to know how is the teacher-student
interaction in learning English and to know what the type of interaction
characteristics in the teacher-student’s interaction at the seventh grade of SMP N
4 Purworejo in the academic year 2011/2012.
The population in this research was the seventh grade students of SMP N 4
Purworejo and the sample was 31 students and one English teacher. The writer
uses purposive sampling in this research and uses observation for technique
collecting data. Flanders Interaction Analysis used to identify teacher-students
interaction.
By conducting this research the writer found that the interaction was
dominated by the teacher, the percentage of teacher talk was 72.84% and students
participation was 24.78 %. It means that teacher spent 72.84% of the teachinglearning
time, while the students spent 24.78% of teaching-learning time. The
interaction was in three ways communication: interaction between teacherstudents,
students-teacher, and students-students. |
