Abstract:
In Indonesia, English has been chosen as the first foreign language to be taught in the school. However, for Indonesian students, especially junior high school students, mastering English pronunciation is not an easy task. They have to make efforts. The efforts should not come only from the students but also the teacher. The teacher should find a way to make learning process reach the goal. Therefore, the media used by the teacher must be appropriate for them. By using Oasis Song Entitled “Stand By Me” And “Where Did It All Go Wrong?”, The Students Of Junior High School Get New Experience In Learning Pronunciation, especially English voice plosive consonant. As the results, they can learn pronunciation easily.
The objective of this research is to find out whether using Oasis Song Entitled “Stand By Me” And “Where Did It All Go Wrong?”Is Effective In Enhancing Students’ English Voice Plosive Consonant For The Eighth Gradestudents of SMP N 5Wadaslintang in the academic year 2013/2014. In this research, the researcher took 60 students as sample. As the experimental group, the researcher used class VII A, consists of 30 students. Meanwhile, as the control group, the researcher took 30 students of class VII B. Then, the researcher gave pre-test and post-test to both classes. The researcher taught English voice plosive consonant by using Oasis Song Entitled “Stand By Me” And “Where Did It All Go Wrong?”to experimental group and common way to the control group. The researcher then statistically analyzed the data by using t-test polled variance.
After analyzing the data, the result of t-value is 3.64. Based on the 0.05 or (5%) significant level and degree of freedom 60 on the t-table is 2.001. It shows that the t-value is higher than the t-table 3.64 >2.001. Another fact shows that the mean score of experimental group is higher than the mean score of control group (69.67>62.17). Therefore, the hypothesis is accepted. It means that the use of Oasis Song Entitled “Stand By Me” And “Where Did It All Go Wrong?” is effective in improving students’ English voice plosive consonantof the Eighth Grade students of SMP N 5Wdaslintangin the academic year 2013/2014.
