This research belongs to a qualitative research. This research deals with
imperative sentences found in movie Inside Out and its application in teaching
speaking. The aims of the study are to find the kinds of imperative sentences
found in movie Inside Out and to describe the application of teaching speaking by
imperative sentences found in movie Inside Out.
The data source of this research is movie Inside Out. In collecting the data,
the researcher watched the movie, downloaded the movie script, comprehended
the script, and found imperative sentences on the movie. In analyzing data, the
researcher identified the data, categorized the imperative sentence found in the
movie based on its kind, counted the frequency and the percentage of the
imperative sentences found, applied the finding of the analysis in teaching
speaking, and drew conclusion and suggestion.
The result of the analysis shows that there are four kinds of imperative
sentences found in movie Inside Out. There are 99 of ISC (88.39 %), 11 of ISP
(9.82%), then 2 of ISR (1.79%). This research can be applied in teaching
speaking at twelfth grade in senior high school.
