Keywords: Effectiveness, Video Clip, Speaking, Teaching, Descriptive Text The objective of this study was to find out using Video Clip was effective or not in teaching speaking ability at the tenth grade students of SMK YPP Purworejo in the academic year of 2014/2015. The subject of the study was the tenth grade students of SMK YPP Purworejo in the academic year of 2014/2015. In this research, the researcher used purposive sampling in taking the sample because of the limitation of time. In this research, the researcher took 50 students of X TM C and X TL B as sample; they are control group and experimental group. The writer used pre-test and post-test, the researcher taught speaking using video clip as a treatment to the experimental group. The test was conducted on March 23th 2015 until April 13th 2015. Statistically, the researcher analyzed the data by using t-test computation. The mean of control group (75.98) was included into 66-79. It means that students of control group have good result on their speaking skill. The mean of experimental group (80.72) was included in to interval 80-100. The research finding showed that the mean of control group 75.98 was included into good category. The mean of experimental group 80.72, it means that student have excellent category in their speaking ability. The hypothesis showed that the use of video clipfor teaching speaking descriptive text at Tenth Grade Students of SMK YPP Purworejo in the Academic Year of 2014/2015 is effective. It was found that the result of t-value is 4.958. Based on the 0.05 significance level, the value of t-table was 2.00. The computation shows that t-value was higher than t-table (4.958>2.00). Based on the result, it means that the hypothesis is accepted. The research findings indicated that the students are interested in learning English speaking using Video Clip.
