Abstract
This research aims to analyze adverbial phrase in Spider-Man: No Way Home movie and its application in teaching grammar. The research formulates the objective of the study involves to find out the types of adverbial phrases found in the Spider-Man: No Way Home and describes the application of adverbial phrases analysis found in the movie in teaching grammar effectively.
This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The researcher collects the data by watching Spider-Man: No Way Home movie to understand the whole stories, reading the script of Spider-Man: No Way Home movie, and collecting the utterances that contain adverbial phrase.
The result of this research shows that there are 8 types of adverbial phrase found in the Spider-Man: No Way Home movie. There are 80 adverbial phrases found in the Spider-Man: No Way Home movie. There are 22 or 28,21% adverbial phrase of manner, 15 or 19,23% adverbial phrase of place, 1 or 1,28% adverbial phrase of frequency, 33 or 42,31% adverbial phrase of purpose, 3 or 3,85% adverbial phrase of direction, 2 or 2,56% adverbial phrase of definite time, 1 or 1,28% adverbial phrase of indefinite time, and 1 or 1,28% negative adverbial phrase. This research can be applied in teaching grammar in first grade of senior high school in adverbial phrase of time. Teacher can use Spider-Man: No Way Home movie to show the example of adverbial phrase of time to make lesson interesting and enjoyable.
