Advertisement and Its Application of Teaching Speaking in Senior High School.

The aims of this research are (1) to find out the types of illocutionary acts found
in Nike commercial advertisement. (2) to describe the application of illocutionary
acts found in Nike commercial advertisement in teaching speaking at the tenth grade
of senior high school.
This research belongs to descriptive qualitative research. The data are form
Illocutionary acts found in Nike commercial advertisement. It was collected by
searching the advertisement, downloading, identifying, transcribing, and finding the
illocutionary acts in the advertisement. After the data collected, the researcher
analyzed the data based on its types.
The result shows that there are 5 types of illocutionary act found in Nike
commercial advertisement. Those are 26 of assertive (12%), 92 of directive (42%),
15 of commissive (7%), 79 of expressive (37%), and 4 of declarative (2%). The most
dominant illocutionary acts found is directives. The application of analyzing
illocutionary acts in Nike commercial advertisement can be applied at the tenth grade
of senior high school in the advertisement material.
