    The effectiveness of using digital scrapbook in teaching writing recount text to the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Purworejo in the academic year of 2022/2023

    The purpose of this research are: 1) to describe the students' ability to write recount texts in the tenth grade at SMA Negeri 4 Purworejo in the academic year of 2022/2023; and 2) to find out whether or not using a digital scrapbook in teaching writing recount texts to the tenth grade at SMA Negeri 4 Purworejo in the academic year of 2022/2023 is effective. This study used a quasi-experimental design. The research was carried out at SMA Negeri 4 Purworejo. It was conducted from February 23rd to March 16th, 2023. The population of this research was all the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Purworejo, which is 252 students. The research sample was the tenth grade students of X-4 as the experimental class and the students of X-3 as the control class. Both classes consist of 36 students who were chosen by purposive sampling. Digital scrapbooks were used for teaching writing in the experimental group, but it were not used for teaching in the control group. For collecting data, the researcher used writing tests. Technique of analyzing data used quantitative analyze to find means of pre-test and post-test. The research finding shows that: 1) based on the mean score, the post-test in the experimental class with a mean score of 73.56, which belongs to good category, was higher than the mean of the post-test in the control class with a mean score of 63.81, which belongs to the sufficient category (73.56 > 63.81); and 2) based on the 0.05 significance level, the computation shows that the Significance of 2-tailed (p) was lower than alpha (0.000 < 0.05). As a result, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. In other words, using a digital scrapbook was effective in teaching writing recount text to the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Purworejo in the academic year of 2022/2023
