- ItemTHINK-PAIR SHARE DISCUSSION FOR TEACHING READING COMPREHENSION IN 11th GRADE STUDENTS OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL PANCASILA PURWOREJO IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2014/2015(Prodi. Think-Pair Share Discussion for Teaching Reading Comprehension of 11th grade students of SMA Pancasila Purworejo in the academic year 2014/2015.A Thesis. English Education Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo, Consultant: Dr. Sudar M. Pd. This study is aimed at improving reading comprehension of the eleven grade students of SMA Pancasila Purworejo in academic year 2014/2015 through think- Pair share technique. Reading is one important skill in English which should be mastered by the students. Research question under study is formulated as follow: is a Think-Pair Share Discussion able to improve students reading skill of the eleven grade of SMA Pancasila Purworejo in academic year 2014 / 2015? The total number of the population in this research is 61 students from three classes. The sample of this research is 40 students from two classes, XI IIS consist of 20 students as the control group, and XI MIA consist of 20 students as the experimental group. The instrument is through narrative test (reading comprehension a text) which is conducted on July 19th, 21th, 2014 for pre-test, and on July 22th, 2014 for post-test. Statistically, the researcher analyses the data by using t-test polled variant. The result of this research found that the use of students’ think-pair share discussion is effective to improve students’ reading comprehension. In this research, there is positive and significant effect of using students’ think-pair share discussion on students’ reading comprehension. The result compared to the value of t-table (6.37>1.686). Then, the computation of t-test shows that the Ha is accepted. The highest score from the whole score-both control and experimental, and both pre-test and post-test, was 88. It was achieved after they got the treatments in experimental group. Then, the lowest score was 44. The lowest score was achieved by the student in control group. After the test, the average scores were found that the mean pre-test of the experimental group was 56.40, and the experimental group has mean score 82.40 in post-test. Moreover, the mean pre-test of the control group was 52.20, while the post-test of control group has mean score 72.80. If the value of t-test is higher than t-table, the alternative hypothesis can be stated that it is effective to use think-pair share discussion as technique in teaching reading comprehension at the eleven grade students of SMA Pancasila Purworejo in the academic year 2014/2015. Consultant : Dr. Sudar, M.Pd Keywords : Writing Skill, Descriptive Text, Guided Questions. The writer conducted this study because of several reasons. They are as the background of this study. Lack of information on how to write descriptive text, do not know how to compose the meaningful text, and less interest in learning English, are happened among students in tenth grade students of SMK TKM Teknik Kebumen in the academic year 2014/2015. Thus, the writer determine two objective of the study in this study, they are to describe the students’ writing ability in descriptive text, and to find out the effectiveness of using guided questions in improving writing ability in descriptive text in the tenth grade students of SMK TKM Teknik Kebumen in the academic year 2014/2015. In this research the writer used experimental research. She used purposive sampling in taking the sample because of the limitation of time and budget. The subjects of this study were the tenth grade students of SMK Taman Karya Madya Teknik Kebumen in the academic year 2014/2015. The writer took 80 students of class TKR 1 as experimental group and TKR 11 as control group for being the sample. The writer used essay as the test. The research itself, and test as part of it, conducted start from Tuesday, January 13th, 2015 and ended on Saturday, January 24th, 2015. The researcher analyzed the data result by manual calculation and SPSS 16.0. The research result shows that the mean of post test for control group is 73.30 and the standard deviation is 2.50. So the students of control group have a good result on their writing. The mean is included in good category. Meanwhile the mean of experimental group is 80.23 and the standard deviation is 2.64. So it means that the students of TKR 1 as experimental group included in excellent category. They have an excellent result on their writing descriptive text. From the explanation above, teaching writing descriptive text using guided questions is effective. Since the result was proved by the result of t-test. The t-value is 4.57, which is the based on the 0.05 significance level, the value of t-table is 2.0211. So it is mean that the t-value is higher than the t-table (4.57 > 2.0211). It means that guided questions is recommended as an alternative method in teaching writing descriptive text

English Education Program. Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo,Consultant: Zulia Chasanah S.S, M.Pd. Nowadays, tense becomes serious problem to Indonesian students. Besides, their motivation in learning English is still questioning. This background leads the researcher to conduct this study. The objective of the study is to know whether or not there is correlation between motivation in learning English and the mastery of simple present tense for the seventh grade students of SMP N 12 Purworejo in academic year 2013/2014. This research consists of two variables; independent variable and dependent variable. The independent variable of this research motivation in learning English. Then, the dependent variable is the students’ score of simple present tense. The population of this research was the seventh grade students’ of SMP N 12 Purworejo in academic year 2013/2014 with the total number 191. The sample of this research consisted of 32 students. The technique of data collection was using questionnaire and test. Meanwhile, the technique of data analysis was using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The inferential analysis was done by manual calculation and SPSS. The result of this research showed that there is high correlation between motivation in learning English and the mastery of simple present tense. Based on the computation of r-value using manual calculation and SPSS, the result was 0.75. and p-value < α (0.00< 0.05). It showed that Ha was accepted. From the result, the researcher concludes there is high correlation between motivation in learning English and the mastery of simple present tense. By using the result of the research, the researcher gives suggestion for the teachers that they should motivate students in Learning English and provide a better learning technique, method, or media in delivering simple present tense. Vocabulary is one of the most important English components because without understanding it well, the students will get difficulties in studying other English skills. Therefore, teachers should find the most effective ways in teaching vocabulary. In this study, the researcher tries to apply Skill Circuits as the technique to teach vocabulary. Skill circuits is a competitive group activity in which learners work in groups of 3 or 4 and move around the classroom so that it will be easier for the students to understand the material given by the teacher. The objective of the study in this research is to find out whether or not there is a significant difference between the Vocabulary Mastery of the Fifth Grade Students of SDN 1 Sucen Jurutengah in Academic Year of 2014/2015 before and after being taught by using Skill Circuit. The design of this research is pre-experimental research. This research is conducted at SDN 1 Sucen Jurutengah. The population used in this research is the fifth grade students of SDN 1 Sucen Jurutengah in academic year of 2014/2015. Before conducting the research, the writer gives pre-test to find out the result before being taught by Skill Circuits. Then, the writer gives treatment to the students. After the treatment has done, the writer gives post-test to the students and compares the result with pre-test result. In conclusion, the data were analyzed using t-test. From the result of calculating of the pre-test data, it is known that the result of the mean score of pre test is 66.06 and standard deviation is 14.04. It can be said that the vocabulary mastery of the fifth grade students of SDN 1 Sucen Jurutengah before being taught by using Skill Circuits is categorized good. Meanwhile, the result of the mean score of post-test is 80.90 and standard deviation is 11.15. Based on the result of mean score of post-test, it can be said that the vocabulary mastery of the fifth grade students of SDN 1 Sucen Jurutengah after being taught by using Skill Circuits is categorized excellent. From the result of calculating data of t-test, the writer found t-value 7.68 while t-table 1.697 with level of significant 0.05 and degree of freedom (df) 30. The calculation of t-value was higher than t-table in level of significance 5%. It means that there is a significant difference between the vocabulary mastery of the fifth grade students of SDN 1 Sucen Jurutengah in academic year 2014/2015 before and after being taught by using Skill Circuits. Consultant: Zulia Chasanah, S.S, M.Pd These studies aimed at analyzing form auxiliary in video game entitled Samurai Warriors 2. There are two objectives of the research namely: to find out the auxiliary in Nagamasa’s dream: Showdown at Sekigahara from video game entitled Samurai Warrior 2 and To find out the way of teaching for English grammar using video game entitled Samurai Warrior 2. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The object of the research is English auxiliary in Nagamasa’s dream: Showdown at Sekigahara from video game entitled Samurai Warriors 2. The data is taken from Samurai Warriors 2 which could be played in PC. The researcher uses observation in collecting the data and then analyzed the data in some steps. The result of data analysis showed that: the researcher found that the most auxiliaries used in video game entitled Samurai Warriors 2 are aspectual auxiliaries. Types of auxiliaries which is used in the Nagamas’s dream: Showdown at Sekigahara from the video game entitled Samurai Warriors 2 are; modal auxiliary, aspectual auxiliary, passive auxiliary, and dummy auxiliary. The researcher found 30.52% for modal auxiliaries, 52.54% for aspectual auxiliaries, 11.86% for passive auxiliaries, and 5.08% dummy auxiliaries. The application of English auxiliary in video game entitled Samurai Warriors 2 is to teach English grammar. The indicator is Student can dentify auxiliary and apply the auxiliary in making sentence. The researcher suggests to the teachers, they can use autentic matelials like this video game so teachers can maximize teaching result. Reading is a set of skill that involves making sense and deriving meaning from the printed word. In order to read, we must be able to decode ( sound out) the printed words and also comprehend what we read. We have to understand meaning words in the text reading. Discovery method is mental process in which students are able to assimilate something concepts or principles. What is meant by mental processes among others are: observe, digest, understand, classify, make allegations, explaining. The objective of this research is to find out whether Discovery method is effective or not on students‟ reading ability of the tenth grade students. In this research, the researcher took 22 students as the sample . Then, the researcher gave pre-test and post-test. The researcher taught reading by using Discovery method to the experimental class. The researcher then statistically analyzed the data by using t-test separated variance. After analyzing the data, the researcher concluded that teaching reading by using Discovery method is effective in increasing students‟ reading ability. As the fact, the result of t-value is 6.23. Based on the 0.05 significant level, the value of t-table is 2.07. The result of computation shows that t-value is higher than t-table, that is 6.23>2.07. Another fact shows that the strategy used is effective. It is shown by the mean of post-test that is higher than the mean of pre-test. In the post-test, the mean is 76. On the contrary, the mean of pre-test is 68. Based on the result finding, the researcher concluded that the use of Discovery method to improve students reading ability of tenth grade MAN Kebumen 1 is effective in the academic year 2014/2015” Keywords: Effectiveness, Discovery methody, Reading ability.

M.Pd Keywords :Implementation,Musixmatch, Improve, Vocabulary Mastery The objectives of this study were to find the improvement of students‟ vocabulary mastery, to know the implementation of musixmatch, and to describe the students‟ response after being taught by using musixmatch at the tenth grade grade of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Gombong in academic year 2014/2015 This research was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Gombong in April until May 2015. This research is called classroom observation research. In this research, the researcher took 30 students at the tenth grade of IPA 3 Class in second semester of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Gombong. The researcher observed the teacher taught musixmatch as a media in the class. The researcher then analyzed the data. The method of research is qualitative research. Theresult of the mean score without using musixmatch is 55.5; meanwhile, the mean score after using musixmatch is 88.5. The implementation of musixmatch could make the students interest in learning vocabulary. Then the students response was good toward teaching process by musixmatch. Based on the result of the research finding, the researcher concludes that a musixmatch is well implemented and useful to improve students‟ vocabulary mastery.

Keywords: Effectiveness, Video Clip, Speaking, Teaching, Descriptive Text The objective of this study was to find out using Video Clip was effective or not in teaching speaking ability at the tenth grade students of SMK YPP Purworejo in the academic year of 2014/2015. The subject of the study was the tenth grade students of SMK YPP Purworejo in the academic year of 2014/2015. In this research, the researcher used purposive sampling in taking the sample because of the limitation of time. In this research, the researcher took 50 students of X TM C and X TL B as sample; they are control group and experimental group. The writer used pre-test and post-test, the researcher taught speaking using video clip as a treatment to the experimental group. The test was conducted on March 23th 2015 until April 13th 2015. Statistically, the researcher analyzed the data by using t-test computation. The mean of control group (75.98) was included into 66-79. It means that students of control group have good result on their speaking skill. The mean of experimental group (80.72) was included in to interval 80-100. The research finding showed that the mean of control group 75.98 was included into good category. The mean of experimental group 80.72, it means that student have excellent category in their speaking ability. The hypothesis showed that the use of video clipfor teaching speaking descriptive text at Tenth Grade Students of SMK YPP Purworejo in the Academic Year of 2014/2015 is effective. It was found that the result of t-value is 4.958. Based on the 0.05 significance level, the value of t-table was 2.00. The computation shows that t-value was higher than t-table (4.958>2.00). Based on the result, it means that the hypothesis is accepted. The research findings indicated that the students are interested in learning English speaking using Video Clip.

Hum Key words: stylistic, editorial, The Jakarta Globe, application, and teaching writing . Written language has its own style. This study investigates the stylistic form in editorial of the Jakarta Globe online newspaper and to describe its application in teaching writing. Descriptive qualitative is used in this study because the researcher describes the application of stylistic analysis in the editorial in teaching writing. The researcher takes the data from editorials published by the Jakarta globe on April 28th and 29th 2015. The researcher uses documentation to collect the data. She did the steps such as reading, identifying, and concluding the data. The editorial 1 text consist of 4 words have prefixes; 13 simple sentences, 6 complex sentences, and 1 compound-complex sentence; 14 technical words, 1 collocation, 14 enumerations, 29 abstract nouns, 28 verbs, and 11 adjectives. The editorial 1 belongs to criticize type, has literary discourse, has a political judicial context, and has many deictic expressions. The editorial 2 text consist of 6 words have prefixes, 7 simple sentences, 2 compound sentences, 5 complex sentences, and 1 compoundcomplex sentence; 17 technical words, 1 collocation, 13 enumerations, 17 abstract nouns, 27 verbs, and 10 adjectives. The editorial 2 belongs to explain type, has literary discourse, has a political judicial context, and has many deictic expressions. Types of sentence analysis can be applied to teach English about how to make sentence in grade XI of senior high school. The students and the teachers should learn more about stylistic analysis in order to create correct structure of the sentence.

Most global community use English as a media to communicate with others. They can exchange information about the culture, the development of their country and also introduce science and technology. For those reasons, Indonesian government has policy to teach English in every school especially from elementary school until higher education.

Correlative Study between Students’ Vocabulary Mastery and Debate Skill on Fourth Semester Students of Muhammadiyah University Of Purworejo in the Academic Year 2014/2015. A Thesis. English Education Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo 2015. Consultant 1: Puspa Dewi, M.Pd. Consultant 2: Semi Sukarni, M.Pd. The objective of this thesis is to find out whether there are any positive and significant correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and their debate skill. In this research the researcher used purposive sampling in taking the sample. The researcher took 31 students. In taking the data this thesis used multiple choices test to find the level of students’ vocabulary mastery. Meanwhile, to get the level of students’ debate skill the researcher used performance test during debate class observation. The observation was conducted on April 30th until May 21st. The result of this study shows that: (1) The vocabulary mastery level of the fourth semester students’ are categorized good, with mean score of 77, the highest score is 95, and lowest score is 65 (2) The debate skill level of the fourth semester students’ are categorized good, with mean score of 78, the highest score is 88, and lowest score is 73 (3) There is a significant and positive correlation between students vocabulary mastery and students debate skill. The correlation level between independent variable to dependent variable is 0.753. Based on the previous data it can be inferred that the correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and students’ debate skill is categorized high. Key words: Correlation, Vocabulary, Debate.

Human being uses language to communicate each other to convey feelings, ideas, thought, and so on. As an international language, English has been used in many fields of international meetings, such as in OPEC, UN, Olympics, and others. Since it is used as international language, Indonesian government has decided to put it in education curriculum since elementary school up to university level. The way to master English especially the four basic language skills of course has many obstacles to face, especially listening skill. The problemsfaced by the students in mastering listening skill are related to vocabulary, speed of the speech, pronunciation, and grammar application. To solve the problem faced by the students above, the writer tries to apply certain strategy namely bottom-up strategy. This thesis uses one-group pretest-posttest as its design and it belongs to experimental research. With the number of population is 140 students, it uses 35 students as its sample and it uses purposive sampling as the sampling technique. To get the data need, the writer uses multiple choice test consists of 50 questions with 5 options. After getting the data, he then did analysis to answer the formulation of the problem. From the computation of descriptive analysis, it is known that the mean score of pretest is 58.71 which included in category Sufficient and the mean of posttest is 66.91 which included in category Good. Due to the data have no normal distribution, the writer uses non-parametric statistics that is Wilcoxon Match Pairs test and from the computation of inferential analysis both manual using Ms. Excel and using SPSS, it can be known that the zvalue is higher than ztable (4.213 > 1.96) which means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Besides, the other aim of this research is to find out whether Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy is effective or not in teaching vocabulary at the seventh grade students of SMP N 1 SapuranWonosobo. This research is classified as an experimental research. Moreover, this research is conducted by using quantitative technique in processing the data and getting the result. Therefore, the type of this research is experimental quantitative research. In this research, the researcher took 56 students which are divided into control (VII F, 28 students) and experimental group (VII G, 28 students) at the seventh grade students of SMP N 1 SapuranWonosobo in the academic year of 2015/2016. The researcher conducted pre-test and post-test. The researcher usedVocabulary Self-Collection Strategy as a strategy to teach vocabulary. Statistically, the researcher analyzed the data by using t-test. The result of this research shows that Vocabulary Self-Collection Strategy is effective for teaching vocabulary for the seventh grade students of SMP N 1 SapuranWonosobo in the Academic year of 2015/2016, since it was found that the result of t-test is 7.35 based on 0.05 significance level, and the value of t-table is 2.00. Therefore, the computation shows that t-test is higher than t-table that is 7.35 > 2.00.

The writing skill is known as the most difficult language skill because it is a complex skill that requires extent of perception and involves thinking process extensively. Procedure is a piece of text that gives us instructions for doing something. Procedure text is one of the genres in writing texts that must be learned by junior high school student. The objective of the study is to know the students’ ability in writing procedure text and to identify the students’ difficulties in writing procedure text of the seventh grade students of SMP MuhammadiyahPurworejo in the Academic Year 2014/2015. In this research the subject of the research was the Seventh grade student of SMP MuhammadiyahPurworejo in the academic year 2014/2015. The design of this research was one test and the method used in this research was qualitative method. The instrument of this research was essay test. The researcher tried to observe students in writing procedure text. Furthermore, the researcher observes to identify kinds of errors made by students.In this thesis, the researcher chose1 class as sample which consisted of 32 students. The researcher took VII D as the sample.The research held from June17th 2015. The result of this research showed that students’ ability in writing procedure text belonged to good (66-79) category since the mean was 67. 87.the researcher can draw the result of students’ ability as follows: 8 students (25%) were classified into very good category, 8 students ( 25%) were classified into good category, 13 students (40.63%) were classified into fair category and 3 students (9.37%) are classified into poor category. There were 6 students (18, 75%) who made error belonging to omission in writing procedure text. There were 2 students (6. 25%) who made error belonging to addition error in writing procedure text. There were 23 students (71. 87%) who made error belonging to misformation error in writing procedure text and one student (3. 13%) who made error belonging to misordering error in writing procedure text. As the part of life, English has become an important language since it is used as a formal language among countries in the world. To master the language, one factor should be considered well is grammar. For L2 learners, grammar seems hard to master because they think about formulas and less practices. In grammar, one of the parts is adjective clause. In vocational high school‟s curriculum, English only has a very limited time a week so that the teacher needs to manage the time very well in order to manage the theory, vocabulary, material, and grammar. For that reason, the writer uses Engage, Study, Activate (ESA) method which focuses on grammar especially adjective clause. Through the quasi-experimental design of the research, the writer conducts the research in order to know whether the use of ESA is effective or not in teaching the students‟ mastery of grammar. The writer conducts the research for about four months and he takes place in SMK Rosyahal Fikri Wonosobo. He takes all population as his sample because the population is only 46 students using saturated sampling technique. For the instrument, he uses test of grammar in the form of multiple choice both for pre-test and post-test and for experimental group and control group. Here, the writer uses two analysis method namely descriptive analysis and inferential analysis and from the computation, the mean score of the students of pretest are 67.83 and 66.96 and in post-test, their mean score is 78.26 and 70.65. Then, to answer the hypothesis, the writer employs t-test formula. Knowing that the data has normal distribution (9.55 and 10.42 < 11.070) and homogenous (1.043 < 2.048), the result of t-test computation shows that the tvalue is higher than ttable (2.248 > 2.015) which means that the Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. To increase the students vocabulary mastery, the teacher can use media for teaching english. By vocabulary quiz in preteachung as a media, the students can easily and interestingly. The aim of this research is to find out wheather there is significant of using quiz in preteaching to improve vocabulary mastery. In this research, the researcher took 42 students of eleventh grade of SMA N 1 Wadaslintang in academc year 2014/2015. The researcher used XI Iis 2 which consist 21 students and XI Iis 3 which consist 21 students. The researcher conducted pre-test and post-test. The instrument used to get data, the researcher is multiple choice test. The techniques of analyzing the data are descriptive analysis in finding mean, median, mode, range, variance, standard deviation and inferential analysis is used to conclude the hypothesis. Based on the computation, the mean score of experimental group was 72 and the mean of control group was 59. Besides, to know whether Ha is accepted or rejected the researcher consulted to the t test.The t-value was consulted to the t-table at the 5% significance level and the degree of freedom is 40. It showed that the t-table is 2.091 and the t-value was 4.491. It means that t-value was higher that t-table so, it can be concluded that using quiz in preteaching to improve students vocabulary mastery on eleventh grade of SMA N 1 Wadaslintang in academic year 2014/2015 is effective. The objective of this research is to describe whether the use of “SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual)Method” is effective to increase students’ reading Abilityon the eleventh grades students of SMA MuhammadiyahPurworejo in academic year 2014/2015. This research consists of two variables; independent variable and dependent variable. The independent variable of this research is the use of textbased instruction. Then, the dependent variable is the students’ rreadingAbility. The population of this research was the eleventh grade students’ of SMAMuhammadiyahPurworejo in the academic year of 2015/2016 with the total number 224. The sample of this research consisted of 64 students. The technique of data collection was using test. It was done by giving pre-test and post-test. Meanwhile, the technique of data analysis was using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The inferential analysis was done by SPSS. The result of this research showed that SAVI Method is effective to improve students’ readingreading Ability. The students’ achievement in pre-test and post-test showed a significant improvement. The students’ mean of control group after doing pre-test was 63.63. Meanwhile, the mean score of experimental group after doing pre-test was 62.88. The mean score of experimental group after doing post-test was 80.06. In other side, the mean score of control group after doing post-test was 73.34. Based on the computation of t-test using SPSS, the result was 4.54 and p-value < (0.00< 0.05). It showed that there was significant difference between control group and experimental group. From the result, the researcher concludes that SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual, Intellectual)Method is effective to improve students’ reading Abilityat Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Muhammadiyah Purworejo at the Academic Year 2015/2016. . The subjects of the study were the seventh grade students of SMP N 2 Puring in the academic year of 2014/2015. In this research, the researcher used purposive sampling in taking the sample because of the limitation of time. In this research, the researcher took 64 students of VII A and VII F as sample; they are experimental group and control group. The researcher used test as the instrument. There were pre-test and post-test. Pre-test was conducted before the writer gave treatment to the students. The type of test was multiple choice and matching test. And to analyzed the data, the writer used by t-test analysis. The mean of control group (76.625) was included into good category. The mean of experimental group (80.93) was included into excellent category. It means that the students have good result in their vocabulary mastery. It was found that the result the computation shows that t-value is higher than t-table (2.46. > 1.999.) Based on the result , it is concluded that the hypothesis is accepted. It means that it is effective of improving students‟ vocabulary mastery using logico game at the seven grade students of SMP N 2 Puring in the academic year of 2014/2015.

Through diversity among nation, the word translation becomes such an oasis to undertake the difficulties in transferring information. Translation in many ways not only changes one language to another, but it hoped to be as close as possible with the target language not only in term meaning but also in form and style. Idiom take place as one of the most difficult task to handle by the translator, there is special treatment for idiom to be successfully translated into target language. This research aimed to analyze the translation strategy of idiomatic expression in the novel and its Indonesian translation and to describe the application of idiom in teaching writing. This is a descriptive qualitative research. The data form is English idiomatic expression from the novel. It was collected by reading the novel and determined the idiomatic expression. After the data are collected, the researcher analyzes the data with the Indonesian translation novel. After the analysis, the researcher found that the translation strategies in the novel are; translation using idiom with similar meaning and form with percentage of 9%, translation using idiom with similar meaning but dissimilar form wit percentage 12%, translation by paraphrase with percentage 72%, and translation by omission with percentage 7%. The most dominant translation strategy is the paraphrase. The researcher provides the application of idiom in teaching writing in form of lesson plan. Finally the researcher suggests the translator and students to have better understanding in idiomatic expression and also the strategies in translating the idiom. In this research, the researcher took 28 students as the subject of the research. In this observation research, the researcher gave the teacher method is Team-based learning and then the teacher apply this method in teaching reading for Junior high school. This research is classroom observation research because the researcher gives a teaching method that has to apply. The researcher act as observer and the teacher act as object of observation. After analyzing the data, After analyzing data about improvement students’ reading skill through Team-based learning, can be concluded that the method of Team-based Learning is not appropriate for Junior High school especially students in eighth grade of SMP N 1 Kajoran. It can be seen from the teacher role when he applies in the class. In the first meeting, based on the observation sheet above, it showed that the teacher does not apply the role of Team-based learning, especially in the pre teaching. He just started by greeting, asked students to pray together, checking attendance, and then asked students the following questions related the material. Then, in the whilst teaching, teacher gives a text 5-10 pages to students but the students can not read all because limited time. So, in the first meeting the teacher’s role of Team-based learning did not do as a whole. In the second meeting, based on the observation sheet above, when teacher gives a text 5-10 pages, the students did not read all the pages again because of limited time. But the teacher was able to perform these steps properly. When the teacher wants to circulate and encourages team to appeal question they got incorrect, the teacher leaves the classroom because he called headmaster. So, after all of the process had finished, teacher evaluated students by giving evaluation test. The evaluations were used to control learning program. The last, teacher asked students to said hamdalah together then he closed the meeting.
