Students’ perception towards Paragraph Writing class held in The First Semester of English Students at Muhammadiyah University of Purworejo

The purpose of this study aims to identify the students’ perception in their paragraph writing class. The method of this research is quantitative one. The research was designed in one shot research design. Furthermore, subject of this research was the first year’s English Department students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purworejo. class which consisted of 44 students. The data were collected through the questionnaires. It can be concluded that most of the students (82,5%) agree that there are difficulties in making sentences, such as the suitability of the sentence structure, that most of the students (90%) agree that they always follow the sentence structure when making a sentence, that most of the students (77,5%) agree that they use good and correct sentence structure in writing an essay, that most of the students (77,5%) agree that a thesis is written as a scientific paper and includes many paragraphs, and that most of the students (80%) agree that students make short stories by following the SOP for sentence structure.
