    THE ANALYSIS OF FOOD PACKAGES FOUND IN STUDENTS’ DAILY LIFE TO TEACH ENGLISH FOR NINTH GRADE STUDENTS OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

    This is a qualitative research.The aim of this research are to analyze and to identify the compatibility of procedure texts found in the food packages and in the textbook “ THINK GLOBALLY ACT LOCALLY ” in the ninth grade students of SMPN 14 Purworejo in the academic year of 2020/2021. The data source of this research is the procedure texts in the food packages and in the textbook“ THINK GLOBALLY ACT LOCALLY ”.The technique of analyzing data by identifying the kind of texts,type of tenses written in the textbook“ THINK GLOBALLY ACT LOCALLY ”. The result shows that all of them are compatible.It is using numbering inspite of adverbial sequence.The procedure text is useable for teaching material of Junior High School students.

    THE ANALYSIS OF ILLOCUTIONARY ACTS AND PERLOCUTIONARY ACTS FOUND IN THE BFG MOVIE AND ITS APPLICATION IN TEACHING SPEAKING

    This research aims to analyze the illocutionary acts and perlocutionary acts found in the utterances of the characters of The BFG movie and to describe the application of illocutionary acts and perlocutionary acts found in the utterances of the characters of The BFG movie in teaching speaking. This research is qualitative research. The data is English illocutionary acts and perlocutionary acts found in the utterances of the characters of The BFG movie. It is collected by downloading the movie, watching the movie, searching the script, checking the accuracy between the script and the dialogue, taking notes of the utterances, and recording the data. From the research, the researcher founds 5 types of illocutionary acts (246 utterances or 87.54%) in the utterance of the characters of The BFG movie. Those types are as follow: 61 utterances (24.80%) contain Assertives, 122 utterances (49.60%) contain Directives, 19 utterances (7.72%) contain Commissives, 41 utterances (17.07%) contain Expressives, and 2 utterances (0.81%) contain Declarations. The researcher also found 35 utterances (12.46%) as the perlocutionary act that produced by the character of The BFG movie. The application of illocutionary acts and perlocutionary acts in teaching learning is to teach speaking with the material of obligation, prohibition, and suggestion (advice) in eight grade of Junior High School. English teachers and students in Junior High School can use this research as a reference in teaching and learning speaking by using movie as a media.

    THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING CAMTASIA DIGITAL VIDEO IN ENHANCING STUDENTS’ SPEAKING SKILL: A CASE STUDY AT THE FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SD IT KHOIRU UMMAH PURWOREJO

    The aims of this research are (1) to find out whether using Camtasia Digital Video to enhance the students’ speaking skill is effective or not and (2) describe the students’ speaking skill. This research belongs to quantitative research using preexperimental design. The population of this research is the fifth grade students of SD IT Khoiru Ummah Purworejo in the academic year of 2021/2022 which consists of 98 students. The sample of this research is fifth grade that consist of 16 students. The data were taken at 11th May 2022 until 2nd June 2022. The technique of the data collection is using test. It was done by giving pre-test and post-test. Meanwhile, the technique of data analysis used descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The result of this research shows that the mean score of pre-test is 65.31 which belongs to sufficient category, and the mean score of post-test is 77.38 which belongs to good category. To see whether the hypothesis is accepted or rejected, the researcher uses t-test through IBM SPSS 25. The result of two sided significance value is 0.000. Based on the 0.05 significance level, the computation shows that two sided significance value is lower than 0.05 (0.000<0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that Camtasia Digital Video is effective to enhance the students' speaking skill at the fifth grade students of SD IT Khoiru Ummah in the academic year of 2021/2022.

    THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ESTAFET WRITING TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ WRITING DESCRIPTIVE TEXT AT THE TENTH GRADE OF SMA N 8 PURWOREJO

    The result of this research using estafet writing strategy is not effective to improve students’ writing descriptive text for students. This research is about the effectiveness of estafet writing descriptive text in students’ of senior high school. This research aims to find out whether there is any effectiveness or not by using estafet writing to improve students’ writing descriptive text at tenth grade of SMA N 8 Purworejo in the academic year of 2022/2023. This research employed quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design. The sample of this research is X-5 as a Experimental Group and X-6 as a Control Group that consists of 72 students. The data were taken on August 4th, 2022 until August 12th, 2022. This research used pre-test and post-test as the instrument. The researcher gave pre-test to each group before giving the treatment. For the experimental group, the treatment was given making descriptive text using estafet writing strategy, while for the control group, the treatment was given making descriptive text without using estafet writing strategy. At the end of the research, both groups were given a post-test. The mean of experimental class’s post-test was 61.81. Meanwhile, the mean of control class’s post-test was 66.11. The mean of control class is higher than experimental class. From the calculation of test, it shows that z-value is higher than z-table (0.052>0.05) so the test results of hypothesis is the null hypothesis (Ho) is accepted. Based on the data above, the use of method estafet writing to improve students’ writing descriptive text at the tenth grade of SMA N 8 Purworejo in the academic year of 2022/2023 is not effective.

    THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING BLENDED LEARNING MODEL TO IMPROVE READING COMPREHENSION: A CASE ON THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMAN 4

    This research belonged to a quasi-experimental research. This research was carried out from 12 July to 29 July 2022. Instrument of the research was multiple choices test that consists of 40 numbers. The researcher took two groups of the students as the sample using purposive sampling, one as the experimental group consists of 36 students, and the other one as the control group consists of 36 students. The data were collected by using multiple choice test. The data were analyzed by t-test. The result of the study showed that the mean score of experimental group using blended learning was 78.33. The mean of control group without using blended learning was 67.81. After the treatment, there was a significant difference in the students’ ability reading comprehension between students taught using blended learning and those without using blended learning. Based on the results of the normality test, it is known that the significant value is 0.107>0.05 which can be concluded that the values are normally distributed. The final result of t-test analysis was t-value>t-table (7.454>1.994) or ,000<0,05. In other words, the use of blended learning was effective to improve reading comprehension ability at the eleventh grade students of SMA N 4 Purworejo was effective.
